Patient Voice Incorporated

Patient Voice Incorporated

Global Heart Hub is committed to ensuring that our patient engagement activities, in partnership with key stakeholders, are not only effective but also ethical and consistent. To this end we have developed a set of best practice guidelines which will help to foster trust and collaboration, drive innovation, influencing both industry practices and healthcare policies, ultimately supporting enhanced outcomes for heart patients globally.

Introducing Patient Voice Incorporated

Patient Voice Incorporated is the name of Global Heart Hub’s approach to patient engagement. It is a set of best practice guidelines aimed at helping all stakeholders who engage in patient engagement activities via Global Heart Hub and our Affiliates, to improve the quality of those activities.

The guidelines offer an agreed set of fundamental principles which help to standardise patient engagement levels, evaluate the quality of patient engagement in current projects, and present the outcomes and impact in a uniform manner. We suggest using the guidance as a practical planning tool for future patient engagement projects and for conducting gap analyses in ongoing projects.

Patient Voice Incorporated Accreditation

This accreditation is an official recognition by Global Heart Hub of activities which adhere to these Patient Voice Incorporated best practice guidelines. Global Heart Hub has introduced the accreditation to encourage and publicly acknowledge the efforts of stakeholders to implement best practices in patient engagement. It facilitates prospective planning and continuous improvement in all patient engagement endeavours, enhancing credibility and leading to increased innovation and stronger partnerships.

FAQs

The GHH guidelines are based on the Patient Focused Medicines Development (PFMD) Criteria, which were co-created by 76 representatives of patient, industry, academic and research organisations globally. The criteria were founded on existing published patient engagement frameworks and their usability was tested by assessing ongoing and completed projects. These criteria describe the core values that a good patient engagement practice should consider having included in its processes.

Global Heart Hub has simplified and adapted these guidelines to the needs of our community, with valued input from key stakeholders, such as our Councils, our Clinical and Specialist Advisory Panel and our Industry Partners.

Improving patient engagement is not just a strategic imperative but also a necessary step towards more effective, efficient and equitable healthcare. Fostering better patient engagement can drive innovation, enhance patient satisfaction and ultimately improve global cardiovascular health outcomes.

Accreditation for adhering to best practice patient engagement guidelines offers substantial value by enhancing credibility and reputation and ensuring regulatory compliance. It fosters stronger partnerships and signifies ethical standards and social responsibility. Access to valuable data and insights helps stakeholders better understand patient needs, contributing to long-term sustainability and success.
