Shaping Patient Involvement in Access to Health Technologies
Global Heart Hub is proud to partner with SDA Bocconi School of Management on an important initiative to explore how patients are engaged in decisions about access to health technologies – including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other innovative treatments.
These decisions are often made through a process known as Health Technology Assessment (HTA), which plays a vital role in determining whether new treatments will be made available and reimbursed by healthcare systems. However, in many countries, patient involvement in HTA remains limited or inconsistent.
To address this, we are launching a global survey to better understand:
- How patients are currently involved in decisions about health technologies
- What barriers prevent greater participation
- What could make it easier for more patients to engage in these important processes
This survey is open to:
- Members of patient organisations (including leadership, staff, volunteers, and patient representatives)
- Independent patient advocates
- Current or former patients
- Caregivers
No prior experience in HTA is necessary, perspectives are valuable.
Your input will directly contribute to the development of recommendations to improve patient participation in HTA processes worldwide. Together, we can help ensure that patient voices are heard in the decisions that shape access to the care they need.
