Global Heart Hub Team Spotlight: Aistė Štaraitė
Meet Aistė! Aistė Štaraitė, from Lithuania, joined Global Heart Hub in December 2021 as our Development Executive and Council Lead in Heart Failure.
Aistė uses her lived experience to help others across Global Heart Hub’s community: “As a survivor of heart failure and someone who lives with a transplanted heart, my goal is to ensure that patients have a great quality of life and the best outcomes. And we, as a community, are working together to inform and raise understanding about cardiovascular disease,” says Aistė.
One of Aistė’s favourite Global Heart Hub projects to date is the development of the Heart Failure Patient Guide. “When I was diagnosed, I really needed an educational resource like this, but it was not available. Leading the Patient Guide project, I was always thinking about what information I needed as a patient and how best to present this information so it is easier to memorise and learn for patients and their caregivers. Having such a powerful editorial advisory board has made the end product extremely valuable,” says Aistė.
As a strong and committed patient advocate, Aistė shares her advice for our others who are looking to get involved: “I would advise people to be brave and come together. The united and stronger voice has so much power which can lead to positive changes on national, regional and global level. On top of that, looking through an altruistic viewpoint, it is a great opportunity to be a part of change and knowing that people’s lives will be impacted and changed in a better way.”
In her spare time, Aistė loves to travel and spend time in nature. She is also very interested in the arts, with a keen eye for architecture and interior design.
Thank you, Aistė, for being part of the Global Heart Hub team! Learn more about our team here.
