Global Heart Hub’s Patient Community Unites for Women

5th Unite Annual Summit a huge success

Global Heart Hub, the international alliance of heart patient organisations, hosted its 5th Unite Annual Summit from 2-4 November 2025, in Dublin, Ireland. Nearly 200 delegates from across 37 countries united at the event because urgent, global action is needed to improve the lives of women living with cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women worldwide. However, the health disparities between women and men with cardiovascular disease are an urgent, global problem that has been repeatedly ignored and dismissed for too long. “Action must be taken to correct these disparities and improve the lives and well-being of women with cardiovascular disease,” says Neil Johnson, Executive Director, Global Heart Hub.

Unite featured 35 incredible speakers across its programme, including a keynote address by Prof Martha Gulati, Cardiologist and Immediate Past President of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology, USA. Speakers and attendees included women with lived experience, patients, patient advocates, clinicians, policy makers and key opinion leaders. “We all have an important role to play in educating and informing stakeholders, and it is essential to collaborate to ensure the best possible future for women living with cardiovascular disease,” says Joanna Ten-Kate, Patient Community Development Executive, Global Heart Hub.
