“I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Global Heart Hub team.  The impactful work we do to provide a voice for those affected by heart disease and in raising awareness and improving outcomes strongly resonates with me, especially as heart disease has personally impacted my family. When the opportunity arose to join, it felt like a natural step for me — it just a privilege to contribute to a cause that aligns so closely with my own values and passions and to work with such an amazing team of people” says Patricia.

One particular highlight of working with Global Heart Hub has been hosting the face-to-face meetings with the Cardiomyopathy Patient Council which she has the privilege to lead. Speaking about this part of her role Patricia says “While we often connect virtually, nothing compares to the energy and collaboration that comes from meeting in person. These gatherings allow us to align as a group and focus on what’s needed for the patient community. Seeing how much the Council has grown since its inception has been incredibly rewarding, and I love learning from everyone’s successes and challenges — it’s truly inspiring!”. Patricia encourages anyone interested in working with patient organisations or patient advocates to “dive right-in”. She emphasises the importance of understanding patients’ experiences, including the physical and emotional challenges they face. “Collaboration with patients as equal stakeholders in their healthcare is crucial, and providing a voice to ensure their expertise is leveraged is essential for co-creating solutions. Authenticity is key in this field”.

Outside of work Patricia loves to connect with people and create experiences that bring her happiness. “Spending quality time with family and friends and exploring new places is where I recharge. I’m also a big fan of live music and theatre; there’s nothing quite like the energy of a crowd and the magic of a great performance.” “One of the most fulfilling parts of my week is volunteering with palliative paediatric children. Being part of their journeys, even in a small way, is deeply humbling, it reminds me of the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of being in the present moment.” The children are lucky to have you Patricia and so are we!
