Global Heart Hub Annual Review 2024: A Year of Impact and Global Collaboration in Cardiovascular Patient Advocacy
We are proud to share our impact with the release of our Annual Review 2024, marking five years of uniting and amplifying the voice of the global cardiovascular patient community.
In 2024, Global Heart Hub expanded its international affiliate network to 130 patient organisations across 42 countries, strengthening the patient voice, raising awareness of the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and advocating for optimal cardiovascular care worldwide.
Highlights from 2024 include:
- Disease awareness campaigns in heart failure, heart valve disease and cardiomyopathy, reaching a combined 450 million opportunities to see campaign messages across the globe.
- The publication of two significant reports: the Manifesto for Early Detection and Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease, developed with patient advocates and leading global experts, and the Women and Heart Report, addressing late, missed and misdiagnosis of heart disease in women.
- The 4th Annual Unite Summit brought together 165 delegates from 34 countries to explore challenges and solutions for people living with cardiovascular disease and its interconnected conditions.
- Growing recognition of patient-led research, including the Insights from Patients Living with Elevated Cholesterol (IPEC) study, has been presented at leading international scientific congresses.
- Active participation in EU collaborative projects, ensuring the patient voice is represented in advancing cardiovascular care, through inclusion in early feasibility studies for medical devices; ensuring innovations are not only effective but also accessible and equitable.
Neil Johnson, Executive Director of Global Heart Hub, reflected on the progress in 2024, saying:
“In 2024, Global Heart Hub celebrated five years of uniting and amplifying the voice of the global cardiovascular patient community. Our work in 2024, from the launch of our global manifesto to international awareness campaigns reaching hundreds of millions, demonstrates the transformative power of patients’ voices when brought together. As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure that the patient voice remains central to all issues in cardiovascular health.”
With cardiovascular disease remaining the world’s leading cause of death, Global Heart Hub reaffirms its commitment to driving change through patient-led advocacy, education, collaboration and policy engagement.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible community of affiliates and supporters. Your unwavering commitment, collaboration and generosity have been instrumental in advancing our mission to improve the lives of those living with and affected by cardiovascular disease.
