Project: Fatal Searches – Her Final Search

Global Heart Hub, in partnership with Croí Heart & Stroke Charity (Ireland) and Weber Shandwick (Communications agency) developed a pilot awareness campaign named “Fatal Searches – Her Final Search”, which has been awarded the best Patient Advocacy Project of the Year and Patient Education Project of the Year Non-Pharmaceutical, at the 2025 Irish Healthcare Awards.
The campaign used a series of powerful videos to highlight how women can experience the symptoms of a heart attack differently from men.
“The judges said that this powerful awareness campaign used emotive storytelling to highlight gender disparities in cardiac health, achieving exceptional reach and increasing awareness and monitoring from 34 to 64 per cent. They admired its innovative and impactful delivery and suggested blending digital and traditional communication to ensure all women are reached.”

Project: Manifesto – Achieving early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease: A manifesto for change

Global Heart Hub are named winners of the Best Prevention category at the Global Cardiovascular Awards for our manifesto, Achieving early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. This project and award is a testament to the power of collaboration. In 2024 Global Heart Hub united the cardiovascular disease (CVD) patient community with global thought leaders to create the first global manifesto calling for early detection and diagnosis of CVD. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this important manifesto. We celebrate this award with you.

Global Heart Hub has been honoured with the Effective Voice of the Year Award, 2024 recognising the united efforts of the GHH international heart patient community in 2024, across disease awareness campaigns on Cardiomyopathy, Heart Valve Disease, Heart Failure and ASCVD; policy advocacy on early detection & early diagnosis; building global collaboration through patient councils, training programmes and the annual international Unite Summit.
The citation commended Global Heart Hub on setting a new standard for patient-led advocacy in cardiovascular health.
We thank our global network, our partners, colleagues and all those with lived experience who are united with us in pursuing the best possible care and outcomes and who bravely share their stories for the benefit of others.

Project: Heart Failure Patient and Caregiver Charter
Awarded by: Think Global Forum
The International Heart Failure Patient and Caregiver Charter won the 2023 Think Global Award in the Life Science category for its global impact on improving heart failure care. The Think Global Awards recognise the global success of individuals and organizations, supported by Think Global Forum, an international hub to generate creative, insightful, and inspiring strategic thinking across global topics.
This award comes from the dedication and hard work of the Heart Failure Patient Council, who created this document to support the development of optimal high-quality care and to promote its adoption internationally across all healthcare systems.

Award Name: Neil Johnson announced winner of the Hall of Fame Award

Project: Work in international patient advocacy and engagement.
Awarded by: Patient Engagement Open Forum
Global Heart Hub’s Executive Director, Neil Johnson, was announced as the inaugural winner of a prestigious international ‘Hall of Fame’ award for his work in international patient advocacy and engagement.
The award was presented at the Patient Engagement Open Forum Annual Conference in Milan, Italy recently – an annual meeting of global patient organisations, industry, and other stakeholders across multiple disease areas. The awards programme is a collaboration between the European Patients’ Forum (EPF); the European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) the Patient Focused Medicines Development Initiative (PFMD).
Neil received this award in recognition of his leadership of the Irish heart and stroke charity Croí for the past 30 years, founding the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health (Ireland) in 2014 and establishing the Global Heart Hub in 2019.

Award Name: Best Digital Campaign
Year: 2021
Project: COVID-19 Response Campaign
Awarded by: World Heart Federation
The COVID-19 Response Campaign was an international collaboration between heart patient organisations aimed at saving lives and reducing disability during the coronavirus pandemic.
There were three aspects to this campaign – “Just Go”, “Step Up” and “Just Treat”. The campaign highlighted that cardiac emergencies are medical emergencies; heart patients need to be proactive in seeking care, and healthcare providers and systems need to prioritise the treatment of heart patients.
We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award, and we thank our Affiliates, Supporters and fellow Advocates for supporting this campaign and making it a success.

Project: Uniting international patient organizations, strengthening the patient voice, and raising awareness for cardiovascular disease.
Awarded by: Spanish Patient Organisation, Corazón Sin Fronteras
Global Heart Hub received an award from Corazón Sin Fronteras in Spain for its work in uniting international patient organizations, strengthening the patient voice, and raising awareness for cardiovascular disease. The award was given at Corazón Sin Fronteras’s annual award ceremony
The award recognised GHH’s efforts in global patient advocacy and setting a new standard in cardiovascular health representation.
